Association of CALAPEÑOS (USA) International

Inspired by the OMASC success in Los Angeles, CA, a group of Calapeños  put to motion their idea of putting up a similar organization that would specifically target their hometown (Calapan) as the direct beneficiary.

The group members (Minda Menez of Ibaba, Elsa Abilar of Libis, Paz Iturralde of Ilaya, Vera Sauco of Libis, Eman Hernandez of Tibag, Adelmar Silvestre of Bagong Pook, Ruby Navarro of Salong,  Ferdie Celemen of Tibag, Nainy Quizon-Dritsopoulou from San Vicente, Arlene Panganiban from Ibaba, and Myrna Villas from Ilaya), after committing full support and assurance of at least 50 members, were able to persuade Jimmy Chua of San Vicente to be the leader of the founding group.

A pledge to donate 2 units of dialysis machines from a founding member (who requests  anonymity) triggered the civic mind in each  of the members to work double time. Just imagine what 2 dialysis machines can do to our town! Then more ideas flowed… hospital beds, medical missions, other hospital machines, the list goes on and on…, AND A VISION TO HELP GIVE A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE TO CALAPEÑOS WAS BORN.

The founding members headed by Mr. Jimmy Chua will serve as the initial ad hoc committee for the organization. It will aim to put in place a registered non profit organization, whose membership will be composed of Calapeños from all over the world, who would care to join and lend their valuable support.  This group with the help of the pioneering members will pave the way for future leaderships to emerge and govern.
